How about Java?

I posted a while back that I was going to learn VB.Net & C++.... but what about Java? So far it looks more powerful (even though maybe a little harder to learn). Also, the Florida Virtual School has a free programming course (in Java) for its residents, which I am planning to take. Does anyone have some good links to tutorials etc for Java?
Your help is appreciated in advance...

Anthony,
Here is a Microsoft article that compares Java and C#. Of course, it's coming from Microsoft . . .

Thanks Joseph for the info...
From the article that you linked to, and some additional research I've done, it seems like the two languages are very similar - almost too similar to tell which one to go with! I've just gotten Herb Schildt's book "Java: A Beginner's Guide" and also "Beginning Programming in Java for Dummies"... and a friend and I have also signed up for a class with the Florida Virtual School (that teaches Java only), so I think I'm going to try Java for now. One thing I was disappointed with was Java's IO features (which from what I can tell makes it much more difficult to get input from the keyboard then C++ or .NET). Anyway, thanks, and I got to go...

Check the Java tutorial at java.sun.com. Also, some professors from the University of Toronto have developed an IDE for Java that is designed to help in learning object oriented concepts early. Google for "BlueJay".
I'm learning the language myself. I am recently returned to the job market and I find it is very popular.
