Scripting with Excel spread sheets

I have two rather lengthy excel Spread sheets, each contains a similar table. The first column in each table represents the unit and the rest of the columns in each row contain values pertinent to that unit. I need some kind of script that will compare each table and create a new spread sheet containing all the rows from both spread sheets that have matching first column units, discarding any rows from either source that are unique. It seems to me that this shouldn't be all that complicated, but I am a very novice script writer at best and I can't get the desired results. Would anyone be able to help me out?
