Javascript question

Hello,
I was wondering how I should change the left and top property of a layer, using Javascript? I have tried, eval('mlayer.style.left="10"'); and eval('mlayer.style.left:"10");, but none of those seem to work. Is eval the right function to use, or how should I specify it?
Any ideas?

Actually, I decided to take another route (don't know why I didn't think of it earlier). I am now having PHP define the variables instead of trying to change it with JavaScript.
